Continuing the history lesson for the world and characters of Attack on Titan a picture of the outside world and politics begins to form. Much of this history informs us about the state of the main characters and the place they call home. But the history lesson we receive is entirely from untrustworthy sources, each as biased as the last. I don't think we will ever get a reliable source for the history of the world of Attack on Titan and I don't think we actually need one for this story to be complete. Followed by a time jump we begin to follow several new characters getting to see the viewpoints of the "other side", this works well to humanize them and to give an alternative perspective on the events up to this point. And we begin to see this side's plans and what motivates them. The volume ends on a cliffhanger that raises additional questions. Something I think should be noted, is some of the iconify and themes used in this volume and the last raise an eyebrow. The use of them isn't necessarily bad or harmful but it is something I will be keeping an eye on and will seek out other perspectives on as I learn more.

"Attack on Titan Omnibus 8" by Hajime Isayama is, where we start to learning more about the world outside of the Walls. I would give "Attack on Titan Omnibus 9" by Hajime Isayama a 5-star review because, 1; I loved learning more about the things beyond the walls 2; I have so many theories and a bad feeling but it's in a good way and 3; the artwork and writing are soo good.

Time jump timeeeeeee. There's more detail in the manga than the anime re: the warriors' mission , which answered some questions I had. Looking forward to getting the scouts back in the next omnibus!

4.5 stars, (9/10). This may be the best omnibus i’ve read so far… questions are being answered, the world is growing, and characters are developing. I’d forgotten how much I love AoT in the three months it’s been since I’ve last read a volume.
